Biography

Yomna Tarek Elsawy is an Egyptian educator and language instructor with a passion for teaching English. Yomna was born and raised in Cairo, Egypt, and attended Al Farouk Language School, where she graduated with a 96% in the Arts stream in 2007. She then pursued her higher education at Ain Shams University, where she earned a degree in English from the Faculty of Al-Alsun in 2011.

 

Yomna started her teaching career in 2012 as an English teacher at Bardy Language School, where she taught middle and high school students for two years. In 2014, she moved on to become a middle school English teacher at Manarat Al Mostqbal American School for a year before becoming an English Instructor at Misr International University in 2015.

 

In 2018, Yomna joined the British Council Egypt as a teacher of English where she worked until November 2022.

Yomna is highly dedicated to her profession and continually seeks professional development to ensure quality and high standards in teaching and learning. Her Favourite quote is” One of her favourite quotes is "The best teachers are those who show you where to look but don't tell you what to see"- Alexandra K. Trenfor. This is why Ms. Yomna always strives to make her students' learning experiences effective and meaningful by applying different teaching methods in the classroom.

Graduate of Al-Alsun Faculty- Ain Shams University-class of 2011.

  • Foundation and Academic writing courses for university students.

 

Academic Achievements:

Yomna has received several certificates in teaching and related fields. In 2018, she obtained her CELTA certificate from Cambridge University, and in 2019, she completed the Teacher's Support Programme from the British Council. She has also completed several other courses, including a Teaching Teens course from the British Council, Technologies and Approaches to Learning from the Norwich Institute for Language Education, and Materials Development for Language Teaching from the same institute.

 

Industrial Experience:

Yomna Tarek Elsawy has extensive experience in the field of education, specifically in teaching English as a second language. She has worked as a teacher of English at the British Council Egypt from August 2018 till November 2022.

Prior to joining the British Council, Yomna worked as an English Instructor at Misr International University from August 2015 to August 2018.

Before that, Yomna worked as a Middle School English teacher at Manarat Al Mostqbal American School from June 2014 to August 2015.

Yomna also has experience teaching at Bardy Language School, where she worked as a high school and middle school English teacher from 2012 to 2014.
