About the Meeting
The GAINAfrica consortium kicks off its Horizon Europe-funded work with four days in Cairo—two full working days of plenary sessions and work-package deep dives, a live demo day for GenAI-for-Education, and a chance for every partner to meet in person before the year's work begins.
EUI is hosting the kick off meeting on its campus in Knowledge City, in Egypt's New Administrative Capital, with delegate accommodation based in New Cairo—close to campus and close to the city's restaurants and evening life.

Programme Highlights
Monday, 12 October—Arrival
Delegates arrive at their own pace, check in to New Cairo hotels, and are free to settle in.
Tuesday, 13 October — Working Day 1
Welcome from EUI leadership, the coordinator's vision for governance and the year ahead, a partner round where every institution has the floor, and deep dives into WP1–WP3. The day closes with a look at compute and modelling resources, followed by a gala dinner.
Wednesday, 14 October — Working Day 2
Use-case sessions across WP4–WP7, a working session on the Living Labs template, and the GenAI-for-Education Demo Day — two hours where hackathon winners and Egyptian EdTech start-ups present to the full consortium. The day wraps with WP8/WP9 updates and the governance calendar.
Thursday, 15 October — Wrap-up
A morning of risks, decisions, and action items—then departures from midday, with an optional cultural afternoon for anyone staying on.
Recommended Accomodation
Delegates stay in New Cairo—30–45 minutes from campus, with restaurants, cafés, and evening options on the doorstep. EUI's daily shuttle and gala-dinner transport run to and from a shortlist of five hotels, spanning a range of budgets:

Invitation Letters
Participants requiring an official invitation letter for visa or travel arrangements are kindly requested to submit their passport details through the designated form by 31 August 2026. Invitation letters will be issued by EUI and will include the event and participant details, attendance dates, and host institution information.
