SolveThe17 Hackathon Kicks Off: Empowering Students to Tackle Global Challenges

The IEEE Egypt University of Informatics (EUI) Student Branch has officially kicked off SolveThe17, a global hackathon dedicated to developing innovative solutions for the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations. This initiative brings together bright student minds to address real-world challenges, from quality education and clean water to climate action and sustainable cities.

The hackathon is taking place from May 10 to May 18, 2025, at the Egypt University of Informatics in the New Administrative Capital, Cairo. Throughout the event, students will collaborate in teams, guided by expert mentors from academia and industry, to ideate and prototype impactful projects that align with global sustainability priorities.

Organized by the IEEE EUI Student Branch and supported by the Egypt University of Informatics, SolveThe17 is backed by a number of notable partners. Exology for Smart Solutions and Consulting LLC serves as the technical sponsor, contributing technical mentorship, hosting workshops, and providing awards for outstanding solutions.

The event is also proudly sponsored by DataCamp and MathWorks as Silver Sponsors. DataCamp is offering participants free access to its extensive library of online courses, while MathWorks is supporting the event through expert mentoring, product giveaways, and technical guidance.

With SolveThe17, students are gaining not only hands-on experience in innovation and teamwork but also a chance to contribute meaningfully to a more sustainable and equitable future. The event is a launchpad for interdisciplinary solutions that blend technology, creativity, and a commitment to global impact.
