EUI Wraps Up AISprint with 200 Students from 25 Universities
EUI concluded its week-long AI Sprint Hackathon on Thursday, May 14, at its campus in Knowledge City, New Administrative Capital. The event brought together 200 students — divided into 52 teams representing 25 universities — competing for cash prizes, free training courses, and discounts offered by nine sponsoring companies.
Prof. Ahmed Hamad, Acting President of EUI, stated that the hackathon is organized by the Google Developer Group (GDG) at the university, with this edition focusing on artificial intelligence, automation, and cybersecurity. The event united students from various universities to collaborate on real-world projects submitted by industry partners, enabling them to build innovative solutions and gain practical hands-on experience. Participants also attended mentoring sessions led by professionals across multiple fields, including AI, data science, automation, cybersecurity, and web development.
Hamad emphasized that the hackathon is backed by a range of companies serving as sponsors, technical partners, and project providers, ensuring that innovation aligns with actual market needs. The program prioritizes practical implementation, technical feasibility, and the commercial impact of proposed solutions.
Dr. Mohamed Ismail, Head of the Student Life Office at the university, noted that winning teams will receive internship opportunities at several companies, including Duckurity, an AI-powered cybersecurity education platform focused on real-world readiness through hands-on lab training; Softworks, a software studio that builds complete digital products and system infrastructure for businesses across multiple industries; and Keheilan Asset Management, a global investment firm that supports startups and scales technology-driven businesses through capital, strategy, and operational support.
Winning teams will also benefit from free courses and discounts from DotPY, a specialized AI and data science school offering workshops and training programs; SAIT (Smart Artificial Intelligence Technology), an integrated IT solutions provider offering advanced systems for workforce attendance management, security solutions, appointment management, and AI-powered smart home automation; and MEC Academy, a training institution focused on software and digital technology.
