Dr. Amal Elgammal

Biography

Dr. Amal Elgammal is the Head of the Software Engineering Department at the Faculty of Computing and Information Sciences and also serves as the Head of the International Relations Office at Egypt University of Informatics (EUI)—an institution she co-founded. Previously, she was an Academic Adviser to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology in Egypt, contributing to national initiatives in digital transformation and education.

Dr. Elgammal is also an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence, Cairo University, where she has held a faculty position since 2012 (on secondment leave since 2020). She earned her Ph.D. in Information Systems from Tilburg University, the Netherlands (2008–2012), under the supervision of the renowned Prof. Dr. Mike Papazoglou. After completing her doctorate, she held a postdoctoral research position at University College Cork, Ireland, within the Governance, Risk, and Compliance Technology Centre (GRCTC) (2013–2014), followed by a research fellowship at Trinity College Dublin’s Future Cities Research Centre (2014–2015).
