Biography

Professor Ahmed Mohamed Hamad was appointed Acting President of Egypt University of Informatics (EUI) effective April 13, 2025. Prior to this role, he was named EUI’s Vice President for Academic Affairs in September 2024.

Prof. Hamad holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Orsay, France, which he earned in 1981 with a specialization in electronic systems analysis. His academic career began at Ain Shams University’s Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences, where he progressed from Demonstrator to Assistant Professor, and later to Professor, starting in 1998.

Throughout his administrative career, Prof. Hamad has held several key leadership positions. He served as Vice-Dean and later Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Science at the British University in Egypt (BUE), before becoming BUE’s President from 2014 to 2021. He has also served as Vice President of Al Hayah University and President of Al Ryada University.

On the international stage, Prof. Hamad represented the Arab region in UNESCO’s Global Monitoring Report on Higher Education during 2016 and 2017.

An accomplished researcher, Prof. Hamad has published more than 70 papers across various fields of information technology, contributing extensively to both international and local conferences and journals.

Education
  • Ph.D. Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Orsay, France, specializing in Electronic Systems Analysis in 1981
  • Master of Science Degree in Aircraft Electronic Systems from the University of Brno, Czechoslovakia, in 1977.
  • Post-graduate Diploma in Avionics Systems (Aviation Electronics) from MTC in 1972.
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Military Technical College (MTC), Cairo, in May 1971, with an excellent grade and a degree of honor.
Industrial experience
  • IEEE member of Computer and Communication societies since 1988. Currently Life-Member 2021.
  • ACM member since 2005
